Acknowledgments

We gratefully acknowledge the Microsoft MVPs and other people who answered our questions in newsgroups. Time after time we were pulled out of the mud by the expertise and generosity of those who addressed our critical questions. These are the newsgroups and forums which we consulted:

  • Microsoft Visual C++/MFC: The tremendous guys in the MFC group have repeatedly been the compass in the treacherous navigation of Windows programming.
  • Microsoft Multimedia: Chris P. does a wonderful, kindhearted service in moderating things audio.
  • NSIS (Nullsoft Scriptable Install System): Open source installation tool, supported by an exceptional forum.

We are also grateful for the terrific insights of the following professors during graduate programs in past years:

  • Mary Lois Nardini, retired, Foundations and Media Technology, Indiana State University.
  • Ronald E. Johnson, retired, Learning and Memory, Purdue.
  • James S. Nairne, Human Learning and Memory, Purdue.
  • Robert W. Proctor, Human Information Processing, Purdue.

Our acknowledgments do not imply that these brilliant people would necessarily agree with everything we say!

Many thanks as well to all the students who have given us vital guidance in treating them and their brains with precision and dignity during the instructional process.
